Quick and Easy Cornbread


1 cup cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg

Optional: 3 tablespoons sugar



Pre-heat oven to 425°F.

Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

Add the wet ingredients to the bowl and mix well.

Mix until the dry ingredients are moistened and the mixture is smooth.

Pour mixture into the prepared baking pan.

Cook for 20-25 minutes, until the edges start to brown and pull away from sides of pan.
